A LITTLE MORE ABOUT YOUR TUTOR..
Amelia Sims, Bespoke Trouser Maker
Amelia Sims, studied Fashion and Textiles at Huddersfield University. Postgrad, she then went on to work for small designers, where she discovered there was a lack of skill and knowledge in making quality garments to last. Keen to learn trade heritage craft making skills she left the ‘Fast Fashion’ world began to work for an alteration tailor in a small tailoring shop in Soho, London. It was here that she also got the opportunity to learn how to press garments, with renowned bespoke tailoring presser George Valet. Amelia worked with George at the valet for four years handling garments and understanding the fluency within pressing skills at this level. Next on her pathway she sought the opportunity to make trousers at Gieves Hawkes & Henry Poole.
Amelia has now settled into a new role at Chittleborough and Morgan where she feels in her element and has learned the true meaning of artisanal bespoke craft. Amelia says what gets her up in the morning is knowing that she is pushing herself to become the best trouser maker she can be. Her skills have grown in particular whilst learning the true extent of how cloth can be pushed shaped and manipulated teamed with the very best details and finishing.
